Continuing its desire to figure on the International Athletic scene, the city has taken up the challenge of organising the 20th European Athletics Championships and is hoping for successful participation from both competitors and the people of Barcelona.
The event will take place from 26th July to 1st August 2010.

The Olympic Stadium was built for the urban reforms that took place for the Universal Exhibition of 1929, later for the Olympic Games in 1992, it was renovated and restored as a hub for sport events. Walks and marathon will start and finish in the Paseo Picasso. The marathon will pass through the districts of Ciutat Vella, Eixample and Sant Martí. It will be a completely urban circuit. Other important event locations will be the training areas for athletes.
